In these one-on-one practical Zoom playwriting workshops, learn how to generate stories, create characters, write dialogue and structure scripts.
Participants can book one-off playwriting crash courses or they can book a more structured series of sessions in which they are guided through the planning, writing and rewriting of a play script.
The workshops will be held on Zoom by James McDermott, a playwright represented by Independent Talent. James graduated from UEA with an MA (Distinction) in Scriptwriting. He has trained on The Royal Court Writers Group, Soho Theatre Writers Lab and Hampstead Theatre’s Inspire Programme.
James’s plays published by Samuel French include ‘Rubber Ring’ (Pleasance Islington; UK Tour) and ‘Time and Tide’ (Park Theatre; Offie nominated for Best New Play 2020; longlisted for the Bruntwood and Papatango Playwriting Prizes). James is currently writing new plays for HighTide, Eastern Angles, Norwich Playhouse and Mercury Theatre Colchester.
James has over 4 years experience teaching playwriting in theatres, schools and universities across the country and has over 200 hours experience of teaching on Zoom.
